Privacy policy

What we collect, why, and how to opt out or get it removed. The short version: the calculators run in your browser and store nothing, and the email list lives on our own servers — we never sell or share it.
Who we are
income.ie is operated by S5 Ltd (company number 16842049), registered office 20 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU. S5 Ltd is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights below, email [email protected].
We process personal data in line with the UK GDPR, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection law.
The calculators store nothing
Every calculator on income.ie runs entirely in your browser. The salary, pension, redundancy or other figures you enter are never sent to us, logged, or stored. There is no account and no sign-up to use any tool.
The email list — and why it stays with us
If you ask us to email you (for example, "remind me before the next Budget" or "email me my numbers"), we collect your email address and a short tag noting which form you used. We use it only to send what you asked for.
- Your email is stored in our own database (Cloudflare D1, hosted in the EU) and sent through our own email service. We do not use a third-party newsletter platform.
- We use double opt-in — you confirm by clicking a link before we add you.
- Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. You can leave any time.
- We never sell, rent or share your email address with anyone.
Analytics
We use ken.ie (a self-hosted Umami instance), a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool, to understand how the site is used. It sets no cookies, collects no personally identifiable information, and records only aggregate counts — page views, referrer, country and device type. We do not use Google Analytics or any cross-site tracker.
Server logs
Like all websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically records standard log data when you visit — IP address, browser type, referring URL and pages requested — for security and operational purposes. It is retained for a short period and is not used to identify individual users.
Cookies
income.ie sets no tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, so we do not show a cookie-consent banner. Your browser may hold technical state (such as a calculator's last input) that never leaves your device.
Affiliate links and third parties
Some links — for example to a mortgage broker, income-protection broker or pension adviser — may be affiliate links. If you follow one, that company's own privacy policy applies. We do not share your personal data with affiliate partners. See the disclaimer for how affiliate links work. Government links (Revenue, Citizens Information, gov.ie) are not covered by this policy.
Legal basis for processing
- Consent — for the email list, where you explicitly opt in (and can withdraw any time).
- Legitimate interests — for server logs kept to protect and run the site.
How long we keep it
- Email addresses: kept until you unsubscribe, then removed from active sending.
- Server logs: per Cloudflare's standard retention (typically up to 30 days).
Your rights under GDPR
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (in practice, your email if you subscribed)
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
To exercise any of these, email [email protected] — we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or, if you are in Ireland or the EU, your local supervisory authority, such as the Irish Data Protection Commission.
International transfers
The site runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, Cloudflare provides appropriate safeguards (it is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework). The subscriber database is hosted in the EU.
Children
income.ie is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has subscribed, contact us and we will remove the record.
Changes
If we add or remove a processor or a category of data, we update this page and the "last updated" date above.
